I know a mother who loves so deeply,
Yet she worries about her mistakes,
She did her best to raise them up,
And she wonders, “Did I have what it takes?”
I know a mother who is in the thick of it,
Every moment holds a new demand to meet,
She’s doing her best to enjoy the moment,
And she wonders, “How will I stay on my feet?”
I know a mother who is deep in grief,
Although it’s been years since the heartbreak,
She longs to hear her mother’s voice,
And she wonders, “How long will I feel this ache?”
I know a mother with babies in heaven,
She carried them in her womb and in her heart,
Now they rest in the arms of Jesus,
And she wonders, “Why do we have to be apart?”
I know a mother who appears a tower of strength,
But inside, her heart is shattered,
Absent milestones come and go, passing in silence,
And she wonders, “Did my child’s life matter?”
I know a mother who left a legacy of love,
Her children and grandchildren miss her so,
They feel like the time they shared wasn’t enough,
And they wonder, “Why – so young – did she have to go?”
I know a mother who left a legacy of love,
Her children and grandchildren miss her so,
They feel like the time they shared wasn’t enough,
And they wonder, “Why – so young – did she have to go?”
I know a mother, reluctant to let go,
Fearful of the future, dreading an empty nest,
She knows her children were never truly hers,
And she wonders, “How will I ever get used to this?”
There is One who knows every mother,
In all times past and present days,
He loves her and beckons her, softly,
“All you need to do is this – love me, trust me and follow my ways.”
